Need Viagra? Prove it.

Standard

It was a typical lazy Saturday afternoon.
I was attempting to get some work done but somehow stumbled onto Facebook where I found this little tidbit of information:

By the time the video was done, I was applauding this Rep. Mia McLeod for a number of things even though I don’t live in South Carolina.
First and foremost, she used her platform to bring attention to something that women have been screaming from the top of their ovaries for years. I like that and if I could vote for her, I would.
Second, the fact that she did it in an ever so in-your-face (or pants) manner just made it even more great.
Third, it begins a dialogue. Since this country’s beginning some old, white man has had some say over a woman’s reproductive system. Historically, a man has made the decision of whether or not a woman can decide what she wants to do with her own basket of eggs.
That goes for women of all races. For slaves, the master owned their bodies therefore owning the products that came out. For white women, you produced your husbands heir and he then decided to accept that child (or not). Later, it would become whether or not you have the right to end a pregnancy based on being raped or a simple condom malfunction. The battle of Plan B vs. Planned Parenthood would show its head. The mandatory, yet invasive, conversation with a total stranger about whatever decision you’ve made to make concerning your own body.
Most of this discussion is led by an older or middle-aged white man who hasn’t had to try and push a watermelon out of pea except when he has the occasional kidney stone.
So I’m excited (all pun intended ;-)) to see what discussion comes out of this movement. It’s time for men to worry about what’s going on in their own pants instead of regulating Fallopian tubes and let women decide what to do with their own eggs. Whether it be cook them, freeze them, crack them, etc. They should ultimately have the right to choose.
Just like they have a choice.
Between Viagra and Cialis.
Topical cream or pill.
Waiting until the moment’s right or taking something in advance.
Dealing with an erection that may last four hours or not having one at all.
All those are male choices.
I’m just saying.
